Biotech Open Platform was inaugurated on 29 September 2026. Its partners say a fermentation line of up to 15 m³; its own site says lines of up to 11 m³ and describes its ISO 22000 status as both under way and certified. The 2024 plan was €16m and a demo-scale line by 2025; the first phase now costs over €20m.
Eco Invest Brasil's fifth auction offers up to R$1.5bn of public capital per innovation fund. Alternative proteins share one fund with green fertilizers and bioinputs, the catalytic class has a 3% target return, and the deadline moved from July to 15 September. No source says how much is for proteins.
A Spanish state investor took 13.8% of Elian for €40m in September 2026 to expand a Barcelona soy-protein plant. Set the company's hectare targets against Aragón trial yields and the plant's stated throughput, and local supply covers 3.9–6.5% of what it processes, not the 20% reported.
Onego Bio announced a Bioalbumen supply deal with Zen Waffles on 9 September 2026. FDA's GRN 1249 letter allows the ovalbumin at up to 5% in waffles. Zen's classic waffle is built on cottage cheese, whole eggs and casein, and no volume, price or launch date has been published.
Bestzyme says its Jinan line makes over 100 tons of brazzein a year, equal in sweetness to 300,000 tons of sucrose. That works out at 3,000x. The FDA notice that cleared the same protein in 2025 gave 24,000x. The gap is eightfold, and it moves inclusion rate and cost by the same factor.
